Now what do I mean by the unique url which is given to you? When you sign up as an affiliate to promote a merchants product or service, (which is free) you assign yourself a unique id or name or in some cases your unique id is automatically generated for you, anytime you are to promote a merchant’s product, you promote the merchant’s website address but this time with your id attached to it thereby giving you a unique url or website address. The idea is that once anyone makes a purchase or signs up through your unique url, or website address, it is automatically noted it came from you and you are credited for the sale or lead and you earn money.
At this point I want to mention that you can make money as an Affiliate in 2 basic ways either when someone makes a purchase through you which means you earned money via sale, or signs up through you to even without buying anything but to receive more information from the merchant which means you earn money via leads. Affiliate earnings per sale or affiliate earnings per lead depends on how the merchant wishes to reward you, therefore one should first of all note if he or she is going to earn money as an affiliate through leads or sales
Generally, the percentage amount of money you earn is as an affiliate often within the range of 5%-75% of the selling price of the item.
Now you might be wandering how you collect your money as an Affiliate to a merchant. You see, most of the merchants to whom you can affiliate with often register with Affiliate Program Providers (APPs.) Affiliate Program providers act as a go- between merchants and affiliates and render services to both the merchant and the affiliate. The service they render to merchants is that they track each affiliate’s performance and make payments to affiliates which is mostly in the form of checks so, the merchant does not need to bother about this tedious aspect, while the service rendered to the affiliate other than disbursing his or her checks promptly (which is every 2 weeks or monthly depending on the APP) is that before a potential affiliate decides to promote a merchant’s product, he or she can have an overview of the merchant’s products which includes statistics on the popularity of the product, the sale performance of the product, and whether the merchant is willing to pay the affiliate per sale or leads. This type of arrangement fosters some level of trust between the merchants and the intending affiliate.
Some merchants do not use APPs, so it is important to find out if the merchant you are joining it reputable, however most merchants are signed up with one Affiliate Program Providers or another. There are 2 ways you can sign up to be an Affiliate to a merchant;
the first method is by opening an account with an APP (this is Free), and by using your APP id which is given to you, look for the merchant through the merchants list and sign up with merchant or,
secondly if you are already on the merchant’s website, look for the link “affiliate”, this is mostly situated at the bottom or top of the page as a weblink, click on it to sign up, in most cases you will find out, it will lead you back to a reputable APP maybe even one you are already signed up with and if that is the case all you have to do is sign in with your usual APP id. The beauty of signing up with a reputable APP is that when you do so, an account is created for you and you can use your same id to sign up with numerous reputable merchants under the APP that catches your fancy and have all your earnings collated into one check and sent to you. As I indicated earlier signing up with an APP is free. There are quite a number of good ones but I use Clickbank, Commission Junction and Linkshare.
Another reason why I love Affiliate business is the promotional aspect. Though there are different ways to promote ones unique website address or affiliate website as we may call it, promotions is beyond the scope of this article, however it is pertinent to note that making money through affiliate marketing is basically a numbers game. The more people you get to your website, the more money you make. One of the many promotional methods I use is Pay per Click search engines advertisement with Google Adwords, by promoting my website using this method, my website gets advertised within 5 minutes of placing my ads and I start making money immediately. I must add that I do not need to bother about logging on to the internet everyday, but do so once in a week to check my earnings through my APP account and to check how many people have visited my site and maybe make a tweak or two on my website advertisement to increase the sales conversion sales rate.
So in summary, the easiest way to earn money online is through Affiliate Marketing Business, you do not need to come up with your own product, or stock any product or have a merchant account to receive credit card payments, all you have to do is sign up with a merchant which is free, promote his product and sit back and collect your money at the end of every 2 weeks or monthly. Moreover you can promote as many merchants product as you can and you do not need to be in front of the computer everyday to man your business, you just sign up with a merchant which free of charge, promote his products, sit back and let the money roll in.
